The frame and filling are new, but little Ada is graced with lovely Aesthetic era turned legs.  The Aesthetic Movement was essentially a refined, bohemian and exotic version of popular Victorian styles.  Several decorative motifs are characteristic of Aesthetic movement pieces.    Most beloved was the sunflower, but anything peacock was used profusely and affectionately as well.  The peacock was highly praised amongst all the great Aesthetics, such as Christopher Dresser, James McNeil Whistler, and of course the most notable, the movements mascot- Oscar Wilde (somewhat of a peacock himself).
