Base pay range: $68,640.00 / yr - $68,640.00 / yr Major Duties & Responsibilities The Paralegal (PL) assists with case planning, development, and management, legal research, interviews clients, gathers facts and retrieves information, drafts and analyzes legal documents and collects, complies and utilizes technical information, to make recommendations to an attorney. The PL monitors litigation (including pre‑litigation matters) involving the company and assists with responding to discovery requests, preparation of witnesses, investigation of allegations, etc. PL assists with compliance issues and develops an understanding of compliance as it relates to the direct selling industry. PL assists the Collections Unit with small claims court matters. Knowledge & Skills – Paralegal Basic principles, concepts and methodology of legal proceedings and legal research. Working knowledge of State Bar Law, Rules of Conduct and procedures as they apply to the performance of major duties and responsibilities of the position (within the introductory period). Knowledge of attorney‑client relationships applicable to the performance of major duties and responsibilities of the position. Principles of legal writing and effective writing and verbal presentation. Problem identification, analysis and evaluation; business math for non‑technical calculations. Computerized information and database record keeping systems; familiarity with Westlaw or other computerized legal research systems. Assist with Small Claims Court Matters Organize and maintain legal documents and case files in digital and physical formats. File necessary documents with courts and administrative agencies (eFiling familiarity). Monitor case deadlines to ensure timely and accurate submissions. Represent the company in small claims court proceedings in the absence of the attorney. Essential Elements / Ability To Possess visual capability and digital dexterity to operate a computer and standard office equipment. Proofread documents and view information on a computer screen with clear communication in person and in writing. Digital dexterity to assemble, retrieve and replace files; communicate by telephone. Endure prolonged periods of sitting; travel by air and automobile as required. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor degree, or equivalent work experience in a field that develops the necessary skills, and Completion of an approved paralegal program, and Minimum two (2) years experience as a paralegal. Successful completion of the State Bar validated standard tests for the position. Accomplished computer keyboarding skills.
